lazy, static GIFs

I've tried adding a GIF into a thread a couple of times, but they always end up posting as an unanimated image.

I use the 'insert image' tool thingy and then paste the URL into the box marked 'External Link', and everything looks great in the preview/composition box -- the image is moving just like it's supposed to.

Then i hit the 'Post' button, and the GIF ends up posting frozen.

I haven't found anything about this in the 'help' section -- it seems like i'm missing something really obvious here -- anyone want to pipe in and let me know, even in a sarcastic and/or degrading way?

At one point animated gifs on the forums were made to not loop. Not sure what the situation is now; would have to find the topic that had a bunch of them.

I guess i'll try to dig a little deeper, but i still see plenty of them being posted these days (even in the same thread that i last tried to post one in), and they seem to loop just fine.

I found the topic with all the gifs. They seem to be running just fine in the forum. Have you just tried uploading instead?

Thanks, stuzzi and Martin -- that did it -- using your advice, i just edited the post that i couldn't get to animate, and now it's looking as ridiculous and non-static as i had originally intended.
