Legit? Is someone hacking me? A flawed app?

When I log on to this site using the mobile app I often, but not always, am asked by "verify.com" to prove that I'm human. Maybe it's "verify.chess.com." 

I've been on the site for more than a decade. In the past I received an email from chess.com twice at least that someone in Detroit MI had either tried, or succeeded, to hack me. I changed the password and it hasn't happened since.

Now if I'm trying to log on using the mobile app I just abandon the effort. 

I have come across that challenge several times and it is often challenging to get past.

Any ideas why it only happens when I'm using the mobile app? Or if it's a feature on chess.com that is malfunctioning?
