Happens to me at least once a week and I am on reliable fibre optics internet - and like others here, I have no connection problems with any other sites or apps. Besides losing games because of this or hanging on by a thread by refreshing my browser that seems to work temporarily, there is always the possibility that my opponent will perceive that I have stalled by disconnecting deliberately and report me. It has certainly made me now reconsider when I see the opponent has disconnected and I think it's deliberate given how frequently it has happened to me. But in all of those cases, the opponent disconnects when I am taking the lead. So it does appear as if the other person has disconnected deliberately. Google says to clear the cache in my browser but even after doing this, the disconnections have continued to happen.

If you're using the iOS app, some games are having issues and staff are looking into it. There's a fix coming soon that should improve things in that case
I just lost three winning position games due to "abandonment", [removed -- MS]. I have three TV's going on the same fiber connection at any given time. The connection problem is with chess.com. The very least you could do for a pay to use service is hold up your end and absolutely certain that we are not constantly disconnected. This is a real problem. Fix It!!!
pb641, I agree! This is the only site I have disconnection at all! So frustrating! Their solution that they post are always to clear our cache etc. But that doesn't last long even if it does appear to help. And how come I never have to clear my cache for any other websites??? TV works fine with all the streaming apps same as you.
If you're on the iOS app there is a bug that impacts some games. Staff are aware and working on pushing out a new version with a fix

I have this same problem now for months regularly, when I play on another chess site (lichess) I never have disconnects. I really hope chess.com one day improves/fixes their servers.
Is Lichess as easy to play on as chess.com. Do you like that platform better in general. I'm sick of the spirts of disconnection that I experience here. Just didn't know if the were other sites.
I would say Lichess is as easy to play on as chess.com. There are a few small differences, such as that when you premove on chess.com 0.1 seconds are taken from the clock whereas by lichess your time remains the same as long as you premove. Personally I prefer the layout of chess.com, but that is a matter of personal taste. Also lichess has unlimited free chess puzzles and you can review all your chessgames for free.

Well, it seems that Lichess isn't doing a good job of marketing. Chess.com can't stop good promotion...it's not their secret to keep. And i'm guessing Lichess doesn't have as many members so their server and connection doesn't getting overwhelmed. The high membership in chess.com is likely the issue for the technical issues. This was obvious when chess.com got super popular after the movie The Queen's Gambit got popular. Their server kept crashing. I think the disconnections are occurring because it can't keep up with the demand and Chess.com is sluggish with updating their technology to manage it properly.
Yes, recently I have this often. My net is fast and stable. All other apps work perfectly, both on my PC and on other in-home devices. Only chess.com disconnects. Drives me crazy.
