Losing more rating points on puzzles I've already finished

I play puzzles on mobile when I don't have enough time for a game, so I generally do it as a pass-time. But an issue I run into more often than not is when I fail a puzzle, I try it again after I've lost the rating points. And when I successfully complete it and I go to the next puzzle, my rating drops a few additional points. Is this a bug or some weird feature?

How are you doing puzzles? App or website?

Can you post a screenshot of your Puzzle stats?
You archived stats on web don't look like you're actually losing points multiple times.

Not exactly sure how that would help. When I fail the puzzle, finish it after a retry and then go to the next puzzle, I drop an extra few points.
