New game as white

This was turned off because of the unfair players(guess what colour were they picking all the time).
On rated games it sounds fair, but on unrated it should allow you to practice with whichever pieces you want to play.
Also, every time I open a game I start as black, shouldn't it be random?
I have been trying to open a game playing white and when the game starts I end up with the black pieces, if I choose the blacks, then I get the blacks.
Is there a way to choose piece color and play rated games?
