New Game rating range

I have set my new game rating range at 1200 max, but on my home page in the area for starting a new game, the rating still says 800 to 1440 or something. Why can't I lower my max rating for new games. I am currently under 1200?

The setting under Account applies to other players challenging you, i.e. no-one above 1200 can now send you a game challenge. (Also, you will not see Open Seeks where the player is rated above 1200.)

However, on your Online Chess page, the ratings shown are those who may accept your challenges- these must be changed manually before each challenge/seek.

Thanks! Now I get it. Does this mean that I need to seet the range on the Online Chess page each time? Or is there a way I can set the range semi-permanently until I change it? (Also there's an irritating pop-up bar at the bottom of my Firefox browser that keeps telling me I'm offline. Is that involved at all?)
