No Analysis For Free Users

Hello,

Apparently the analysis section was just updated, but now as a free user we are unable to see our move breakdown anymore? There are many free programs that will show us if a move was a blunder etc. and recommend a better move. I don't understand why this has been removed for free users, as now I have zero incentive to use chess.com any more. I can use another site and a program like LucasChess to analyze my games. This did not make me want to spend any money, and I am not going to be using my account much any more--there are too many free alternatives.

Best Regards,

James

Ok.  It looks like you only started playing  here yesterday. What bad luck for you if you got to like the free analysis just yesterday after your first games.

Here is the report on your last game.

It looks like your 4 inaccuracies, 2 mistakes and 5 blunders sunk you.

Thank you very much for the postings! This looks like a nice feature, but I suppose I'll continue using my desktop programs for analysis. Not a worry, wish I had more time to have used the previous free version!

I really like the new analysis. It's much stronger in computation than the previous version.  (They have dedicated servers running it now instead of running it on everyone's device.)

It looks good, and I like the move highlighting, but I don't understand why they would limit the free version to self analysis when there are free programs that can do almost as much as the paid version. Maybe I'll do the free trial, but I think they're unwittingly incentivising using other sites.

Chess.com wants you to pay for membership.

JDielissen

Nothing wrong with wanting people to subscribe, but to savagely limit the free users isn't going to create the surge of subs they might expect. There are other ways to analyze your games just as efficiently.

JDielissen

They actually may have been updating it while we were discussing, as now I am seeing a breakdown of the moves in the analysis mode. Maybe they still had some bugs to iron out.

JDielissen

Okay cool, I might have jumped the gun then, will have to wait til the updates are all rolled out.

The gall on them, right?

Did I say so?Don't assume what others want to say.

Budina

Thank you for the new analysis machine.

Love the arrows and colors :-)

OP mentioned Lichess and didn't get muted immediately afterwards...?

Very progressive of you, Chess.com. 😀

I don´t know what are you talking about. I played a game yesterday and run an analysis of the game (I´m not a premium member).

I seemed to get one analysis yesterday, then no option to, and the sign up page for premium explicitly mentions the new analysis and reporting as a feature of paying. I presume that you get one free permanently, like with lessons, or you get one free a day, though it could be based on different game modes - it was a daily that I managed to analyze, and a blitz that didn't let me.

But that's how it goes when you don't pay, you don't get a say in features. Puzzles are one of the main draws here for us free players looking to improve, IMO. I'll just get used to transferring games to other sites.

The new 'retry' challenge is a great idea :-)

It is unacceptable when companies ask you to pay for their products and services. I went to the supermarket yesterday to buy a few things, and you can only imagine my shock and disbelief when the guy at the counter asked me to pay for all the stuff in my basket.....unbelievable! The same thing happened when I went to the garage, and the guy said something about having to pay for petrol so the company could pay his wages! I've heard it all now. I have an appointment this afternoon at the solicitors regarding the house I want; I have a feeling more bad news is coming my way! Oh well.

Shop around to find the bargains and save money it's the only smart thing to do. Don't be impulsive take your time and you can get far without spending anything.

I had the new feature yesterday but now it is back original one. I don't understand why the paying members are replying sarcastically, as if the free members are asking the whole site to be free
