Chess.com, cannot fix the problem as it has nothing to do with their sight.  If it had to do with their end of it, then everyone would be experiencing the same problem and the Chess.com sight would be down.

I have firefox, and I did evrything you said to do, but it still wont work!

My games froze on my general site so I went to  Facebook site for Chess.com, and since had no trouble with losing game records. By the way I have since canceled the general site.

Maybe you try downloading Google chrome, much better than firefox....

I forget whitc version it is, but I have the basic plugins, i.e. Java and adobe. Could it have something to do with them?

knightspawn5

They could as Java runs most of the site.... But it could just be you need to clean your computer too..

Yes, Blue, both adobe & java do the same, they keep a record of which programs use them to open certain files.  Try this one other step, it takes awhile to do.  Open FireFox with add-ons DISABLED, then one by one open it with one add-on at a time.  Start with adobe and then java, etc, etc.

You may also want to clean your computer's history and cookies, no they're not the same as for your web.  Go to start, open computer, this will open your disk drives, select your main drive (Usually letter C) then properties.  You will then see a box that says disk clean up, click on that.  When disk clean up finishes a box will open and ask "are you sure you want to permanantly remove these files" click yes.

I am using another broswer, Internet explorer, whitch, as much as I hate this browser, it is working. I am able to play my games. But I need to know how to fix my firefox. Do I need to update something?

All I see are program files, and that is what they say. Is this like a defrag?

Yeah, I use Google Chrome and it works fine. I have never had a problem with anything freezing up.

When was the last time you updated FireFox?  The latest is Firefox 22.

The problem could be caused by a plugin that has been installed on Firefox. Sometimes we let them be installed without really understanding/knowing. Something similar had happened to me with Chrome

mikecox000

i have tried all the above and still have had these problems now for 2 months - i have given up on asking the site to help and only occasionally play now when i can stomach a game being lost on time as i am on constant lag.

This same thing happens to me : time after time after time.

Strangely, it happens a lot when I have just established a clear advantage: it looks like there is a hack or similar, that some use when they are getting beaten.

I am very fed up about it, because you lose won (or winning) games, and then hav eto play weaker players again.

This hack or cheat seems to be increasingly more common, and is spoiling site.

Please, please, fix it.

The problem is usually with something on your system or in the connection between your system and the chess.com Live servers. Your opponent has no way to impact your connection; the clients never directly contact each other.

Take a look at the following. It is about disconnects but many of the items talked about can influence lockups and slowness.

https://support.chess.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1444918-my-internet-connection-is-fine---why-am-i-getting-disconnects-

Also, disable Flash for the site. Live doesn't need it and it can cause slowness and disconnects. The Flash issue is probably ad network driven but doesn't just impact basic members.
