Online School Chess Club

Hi,

I'm starting a small school chess club (20-30 members) and was hoping to set up some small tournaments on chess.com. Is this possible?

I don't mind paying for a premium membership for myself if this will allow me to set up the tournaments but will my school kids be able to play in the tournaments if I get them to sign up with free accounts?

How would they be restricted as free members? Can they only play in one tournament at a time or will they permitted to play just a single tournament and then be blocked?

I was planning to set up a "Group" that I would restrict to the students and run the online section of the club there. Then I could have the regular fun/practice games in the school at lunchtime.

Any thoughts/ideas would be hugely appreciated as I've never run a chess club before!

Thanks,

John.

Free/basic members are only allowed one active member created tournament at a time. They can be part of an unlimited number of Official Chess.com tournaments.

You could always set up manual tournaments within your group, if that would be a problem. Just create a forum topic for the tournament, with the pairings, and have a player in each pairing start a new game with the appropriate settings.

Thanks Martin for the quick reply.

I'll look further into it now. I'll need to start by signing up for premium membership myself.

Thanks again.
