In my experience it usually means the board you are currently viewing is not up to date (most likely your opponent made a move or resigned etc.). The game board should update itself after the error has been displayed.

It appears without making reference as to what game it refers. . .the one on the display or the previous. . .(Oops!. . .It is becoing sort of tedious).
