Open Letter to Mike Klein regarding cheating in yesterday's Streamer Challenge

as someone who also enjoys being involved in the community, i simply find social conservatism in light of proximate needless human suffering the highest hypocrisy.  especially when the criticism has destructive intent and regards trivialities as worthy causes.  people have the choice what media they consume and many hundreds enjoy the chessbrah content with no harm to those few who would aim to malign it.

Sometimes I will say something too far or ill-timed and people willl be quick to correct me and life goes on. I allow all sorts of comments and personalities and opinions in my channel. It's what a lot of people like about the stream. There's no malicious intent we are just a bunch of chess guys having fun who don't mind talking about whatever.

I'll say that even though it was my own channel I tried to be pretty positive/upbeat and relatively appropriate for the most part since it was a chess.com event afterall. They have been very supportive even though we are definitely not a typical chess stream and I hope most people have enjoyed our Chessbrah and Chess tv stuff.

OP forgot to point out that drinkingliketal username and his/her avatar might encourage children in chess.com to drink, as we all know tal and bukowski were raging alcoholics.

It was the first tournament mistakes were unavoidable and for one I agree, a warning should be made before linking the streams, but we come to a point now that the whole PC is out of control and people like this man should be call out and ashamed. ok they made some bad jokes but we were just there to have fun. geezzz your avatar and username glorifies alcoholism as you know tal and bukowski were alcoholics and you chose to link those two together. I must make a complain thread. it might encourage children to drink alcohol.. Enough is enough with this whole SJW we need to concentrate in the real problems in this putrid world.

I think the OP should have sent Chessbrahs a PM about how he found that particular joke very inappropriate: I fully expect Eric would have apologised, acknowledged that it was in poor taste, and agreed to try and improve on that particular sort of thing in future.

I think that's the way people genuinely interested in the community and relationships behave, rather than broadcasting it in public.

That's no way to call attention to yourself and make a scene.

Not going to reply to all the insults directed at me. I did what I thought was right, the fact the VOD has been taken down I think shows that I was right to do so.

I have been told from a chess.com staff member that in future, warnings will be provided. I am happy about this and I see the issue as resolved.

@Caedral I was called a liar in another thread by several people that pushed me to post this.

@erichansen I find it disappointing that instead of apologising you have attempted to justify some of the offensive things you said. However, judging by the replies in this thread from other users, it seems my position is in the minority, therefore I guess you're justified in not apologising.

I'm not going into details, but it seems to me you were both doing what you thought was right.

I suggest to let it go. Your point is clear, so is his.

Well done douche, the world is a better place now that the VOD has been taken down. wow we need more people like you imagine how the world of chess would be if that VOD would have stayed circulating in the net promoting pedophilia and how to cheat at chess. You are my hero!!!

As Petrosianic said I did make one bad joke in that eight hour stream which I feel bad about. It was an inside joke from myself and the stream that I shouldn't have brought up. I sometimes do the 'Would you rather' game but it was inappropriate. I would like to apologize for that remark to you and anyone watching. Other trash-talk things I said are just me being me and and having fun which I'll almost always do.

Other points: We didn't cheat nor were mods specificially sent to spam other channels. The video has been available and people aren't buying that (especially my mods). Instead of messaging me in our stream you spammed every other stream that we were cheating along with other negative things. I dunno what to say about the pedophilia angle as you are in a tiny minority taking it that far.

As Mike said, we are not responsible for the content on personal streams. Danny's stream (which we were responsible for) was appropriate and family friendly as all ChessTV broadcasts are.

As far as "Grandmasters in the room," Robin was in an entirely different continent than the rest of the chessbrahs and I have the utmost confidence in their integrity during the games. 

That being said, thank you for bringing all of this to our attention! I'm glad you watched the event and I hope you were able to find content on other streams that suited your preferences
