Options for outbound email blocked by ISP?

For better or worse I am on sbcglobal.net ISP. They block any SMTP traffic that is not their own. This prevents me from using a third party client for accessing my Chess.com email (I can receive but not send).

I've seen other providers (like Gmail) use different ports (not 25) to get by this restriction.

Any thoughts on your end about this or is it too rare of an issue to worry about?

It's not the web interface. It happens when you're using Outlook or Outlook Express and SMTP is blocked by the ISP.

might be hard. but if you want to, look into another ISP that maybe has other advantages too, like maybe faster service, or cheaper price for same speed, etc. that also will not block SMTP traffic that is not is own.

An example ISP that does not block other companies' SMTP traffic (that I know of) is Earthlink
