Ordering Current Chess Games
I see the game in the alert panel, but I have around 40 active games, and a looong alert panel list. I log off for a while, come back, and only deal with the oldest games. I figured they'd be ordered by closest expiring, so I only worried about the games on the front page while certain games (which could only be seen by clicking "view all" on the page http://www.chess.com/echess/myhome.html) expired behind the scenes.
Imagine playing 40 games at once. The soonest expiring games are the only ones that are important. If you have a game that has 3 days left, you ignore that one to play the game that has 55 minutes left.
This was certainly my fault. I'm just saying, we need to be able to sort the game's list however we wish! =)
I agree completely. Thanks for the quick responce erik!

The listing of games - both current and completed - is certainly crisp and easy to follow. However, I sometimes have difficulty tracking down particular games. If you were considering adding features, I would ask you to consider whether the lists of current games and completed games could be made sortable by any column (Opponent, Game name, #Moves, Black [player], White [player], online status, whose-move/vacation status). Games of a tournament could then be kept together.
As an illustration, "Items I'm Watching" in eBay have this feature. You can sort by "Time Left" or "Seller ID" for example. The sort key is highlighted at the top of the display.
Just my ha'pence worth. Great site, Erik.

Would there be any mileage in displaying games first where the opponent is online - rather than keeping strictly to the time remaining sequence? (This would only apply within games where it's MY MOVE.)

Would it be too much trouble to actually be able to choose how you wanted games listed? It would be pretty neat to be able to click on the headings(Rating, Name, Time left, Moves, etc) and order your games according to that a la the seek window in live chess.

Also, could the show all (games) button be made sticky? (It would need to be replaced by a show initial (games) button, to provide a way back.)
Well, I've now lost a pathetic amount of games due to "timing-out." Why? Because my current game's list won't order my games by the "time left" column. Instead, my games seem to be ordered from the last move made...which means games that are 1 day long get lost amongst my sea of 3 day games, and unless I click the "show-all" button, I don't even know about these expiring games.
In the past, this list was always ordered by the "time left" column. So, I thought I had pleanty of time to move when the 10 games the site shows said I had more than a couple days to move for all my games....I log on to find out I had been brutally decieved. Timing out on 10+ games at once has got to be a fun feeling, expecially when you weren't even away!
So, am I missing something? Is there a way to change the ordering scheme for our current games list? And if not, I suggest the feature be implemented...we should be able to order games by total amount of moves, time left or even opponent name.
