If it is asking you to upgrade then it probably isn't time for you to renew yet. At the top of your account page, Home -> Account, it should show you how much time you have left on your memebership.
Your games are paused because you are vacation since you have less than 1 hour in one of your games and are close on some others. You have triggered the auto-vacation that premium members get.
To make moves in your games you have to turn off your vacation. Home -> Account -> Online Chess Settings under Vacation uncheck the Pause My Games checkbox and Save Settings.
Paying my $5 payment for the first time seems to be a difficult task: 1) the membership screen only wants me to update to a $14 premium plan, and wont allow me to pay $5
2) the card information, will not let me enter new information to make the payment of $5
3) my games in the tournament have been frozen
please advise me.
