Playing games is more important than posting pics.  To anyone who does not have a scanner available and depends on chemical photography, I understand how it could be intimidating.

Wouldn't know how if I wanted, pushed picture button and a screen of choices showed up - waterfalls, sunsets, sea turtle, kitten, whale or this- starts with O maybe a j-z or x in its name?. Pictures are only a 1/4" on my screen, tried to see what some were through backward binoculars but just see blurry dots.

Did this guy really just post something negative about people not posting a picture?  Seriously?  If he has the time and energy to complain about something so trivial on chess.com, perhaps he should find a life to go with his nice little picture.

I think there are too many threads in these forums admonishing people to behave the way we think they should along with the implied (or sometimes explicit) message that there's something wrong with them if they don't. These are often started with the ostensible purpose of promoting good sportsmanship and friendly relationships between players. I have to wonder if putting other members on the defensive and suggesting there's something wrong with the choices they make when they're just being who they are might not have the opposite effect.

Admittedly it's a little difficult to discern the original poster's exact intent, but if the word "epidemic" is at all indicative of what he was trying to convey it appears to be another attempt to lend undue gravity to what is really just nitpicking. The Black Plague and Yellow Fever were epidemics. Whether or not anyone has a profile picture is a combination of personal circumstance and choice unique to each individual here. The fact that those without a profile image can now go through forum topics and find a thread suggesting (I assume this is what is meant) that they're contributing to an epidemic that detracts from the popularity of this site bothers me more than looking at gray people icons.

Right ON!

I like to change my pic every couple of days to reference my latest silliness here on chess.com.

Okay that's nice, but what the heck did you just say?  People are concentrating on the content.

I love the word Criticate. We have to use that.

I can almost imagine some kind of Rap artist using it: "Why all you playa hata's have ta be criticatin' all the time?!"

Criticate.

alabastercrashes

Rael,

why do you criticate with sarcastication?

Alabaster you misunderestimate me! I was actually complicrating him.

alabastercrashes

Rael,

Apologisations. It is hard on threads to interpretise the intentionalisationings of others. By the way, does your new word 'complicrate' mean to criticate with complexitisation?

Rael

Complicrate = complimentations + complexitisation.

Oh, and Alabaster - I noticed that you are a people without a photo that represents it.

Don't you know that is a big no no in this thread? I criticate you for it.
