phone/ipad app is limited

For some reason the 4player modes and other variants like duck chess and fog of war etc are not implemented in the phone and ipad apps, only accessible through the browser which is kind if annoying. Is there any information on why this is the case and if and when the app will be updated with the missing features?

Are you able to join a tournament from iPad if using internet browser? Or only on cpu or laptop?

The variant server has a completely different codebase than the Play server. I'm not positive, but I would image that native support for the variants won't be added to the apps, many of which wouldn't fit the screen size of many mobile devices anyway.
