Pieces don't move in daily game.

Hi all. This started yesterday. Has anyone else experienced it? In a daily game with both opponents online and boards showing in their web browsers the pieces no longer move automatically on the board. I am forced to refresh the page once my opponent has made a move to see the move. Before yesterday the piece moved automatically if the board was open in the browser. Very frustrating and irritating. Only way I can see my opponent has made a move now is when a red badge number appears next to the icon "hand holding chesspiece". Then I have to refresh page and piece moves on board. Same thing has happened to my opponent.

Hi yes I have done that and so has my competitor. It is doing it still today so clearly chess.com developers did something to how the daily board responds when a move is made. Highly irritating that I have to keep on refreshing the page. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing what we are.

Is it in one of the apps? Or the website?

If in the apps, you might post to one of the app clubs. There is one for Android and one for iOS.

  • No it's not the apps. As I mentioned in my original post it's happening in our browsers...so it's the website. Cache cleared...still happening. Tried multiple browsers. Happening on Chrome for Android and iOS, Firefox, Safari, Android operating system, as well as Windows operating system. It is happening to me AND my competitor...so it is not our devices or our browsers...it is chess.com web page coding and functionality issue. This only started happening from Yesterday.

The site was updated. In order to fix this, you need to install Windows 7, and revert to IE6.

But that's going backwards? Everything was fine up until yeaterday. It functioned perfectly. I have made a screen video of what is happening and will sent to support desk. I have already sent an explanation. I can't believe we must now reinstall other operating system versions to get it to work. And what about mobile? It failed on all versions of mobile browsers on Android and iOS (Chrome, Safari and Firefox). How do you propose mobile browsers handle this? I know the site was upgraded. When they did the switch over there was no change to the usability of the daily games board. It functioned perfectly. Now with the board open in the browser nothing moves without refreshing all the time. That's clearly not right. The only way to see that one's competitor has made a move is when the move badge changes (red numbered block on hand holding pawn icon), but if one taps that icon one moves back to the daily games landing page and then one has to select the game in question all over again. A really silly scenario.

Yes. If you are using Apple, you need to install system 7. (That was their best OS, anyway.)
