Players who abandon rather than resign?

And another thread about runners.

Why do you care so much to complain about these threads every time they appear?

One reason is that it's difficult to believe in these instances that the OP is unaware that the subject has been raised and argued ad nauseam in these forums. I note that this OP states that he did not know about this one and I do not know this to be false.

However, it is plainly obvious that in most cases, this hard core of contentious subjects is repeatedly raised deliberately by certain people in order to cause resentment and bitterness. Why they should wish to do this is beyond me, but I'm sure it happens. Some people simply like conflict.

Again....my issue with not researching it was that the search engine did not show up on my screen.  I had to scroll down several lines before it became visible.  I did think it rather odd that there was no search engine box in such a large forum but went ahead with what I figured to be a repeat topic as I saw no other option....until later when I found the search engine.

Again....my apologies for kicking a dead horse.

You're not; kaynight's not dead.  And I've been killed more times than Dracula.

At other sites I am able to have a personal blacklist of players who do rude things like abandoning live games. There is some satisfaction in knowing that I have ruled that player out as a future opponent. Does this site have such a feature? Also, I saw mention of the "fair play policy". Where might I view this? And is it something that is enforced?

Now that I've been in here a while, I'm noticing some changes that have been mentioned in earlier comments.  It has been perhaps a month since the last time someone disconnected and left me hanging.  So, it does seem that if one plays within the site guidelines, the site stops matching you with people who have a history of violating site policy.  When I first started, I ran into this problem almost non-stop.  It seems it took about two months and/or maybe 200-300 games to reach a point where I am no longer matched with these poor sports.

I was falsely accused of abandonment in the middle of the game taking no more than 2 seconds a move. A bunch of emotion clowns working behind the scenes here trying to control peoples ratings, insecurity is a problem in America.

Just had a much higher rated opponent abandon a winning position—and block me. And I had only 20 seconds left on my clock. At first I assumed they had a poor connection—then I saw the block. A bizarre gift? Although, with a vastly improved rating, I'm sure to lose a few games now! 🤔

I have never abandoned a game I was playing, but I have abandoned it once or twice before making my first move.  Usually, because I am just setting up something and I press play by error.  So I abandoned it before the first move.

Once I had someone tell me they had to abandon because they had to go.  They where not losing at the time so I offered them a draw so there wouldn't be penalties. Or not as much of a penalty.

What really puzzles me is when a superior or equal player to me abandons when the board is perfectly even.  This happened to me twice in a row today.  I can only thin they are trying to lower their rating on purpose for whatever reason.  Either that or they are seeing something I am not.

Some abandonments are going to be due to disconnects as well.

I recently was in a game leading by two points, somehow it started flicking that I am about to resign by abandonment ,I lost the game but when I check if maybe this was because of data,I found that I still have enough data.i believe that some players can manipulate games.it happened twice now

Some players can manipulate a game, recently I abandoned a game leading by two points.i thought it was network connection or I was low on data, after the game I checked my data and found that I still have data to play even 3 more games.one player even insulted me saying that I'm using engine,I don't know what's that.maybe they are using that engine to manipulate games

Your opponents can't impact your connection at all.

Runners are the only reason i play blitz now, i rarely play rapid bc if i encountered a runner i had to wait 10 mins.
