im new to this website so i keep seeing the "points" thing and i dont have a clue what it means can anyone help me

If you are referring to "Member Points", they are simply a measure of how active someone is on chess.com. You can read more about them here: http://support.chess.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=16.

It's a product of your 'free time coefficient' and the time, t, since you became a member.

He also mentioned, that you won't get the shirt if you get the 1,000 points with spam posts.

 No, this is actually not correct. This was for the first member to reach that point, and there are now many who have far exceeded that.

 Well, he said here that anyone to get 1000 member points would get a free shirt, but I still haven't receieved mine! (JK, don't actually want one)
