Within the last seven days I exchanged eight e-mails with the support only to get the advice to first reinstall the chess.com app and later to reset my tablet to factory settings. Hmmm...
What I figured out: The app installs sound sets into a subdirectory of /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.chess without any problems. It also creates a subdirectory »pieces« (and within directories with the name of a piece set) when I try to switch to another piece set. But it is unable to download and copy these piece sets into the subdirectories. For the same reason it's probably not possible to switch to another theme.
Mildly spoken I'm a bit disappointed by the support so far.

Another week passed. No more e-mails by the support, no suggestions, no answers to my questions and not to mention: no solution.

Sorry for your experience on this one! I'm just seeing this thread now. I'm not sure what's going on with the themes. I have passed your message along to the developers so hopefully that will lead to a resolution of the problem.
guys i have the same problem with the table ...
I can't even find a way to log in to Live Chess on Android app to watch top games. Can a staff member give me a hint? Thanks!

That's not currently available, VibrantMoves. Perhaps it's something the developers will consider for a future update! I've passed the message along to them.
But I met a member yesterday who logged in to live chess using Android app. He said he logged in normally although I couldn't find an option to log in to Live Chess?

You can play Live Chess on the Android app, it's just not possible to observe the top games going on.
But he said, he was able to watch top games although he wasn't able to see the score of the games. Isn't that strange? I'm unable to figure out how to log on to live chess.
VibrantMoves, hit the menu icon (3 horizontal lines at top left), choose play. Hit the plus sign in the orange circle at lower right. Choose watch, then top game. It is the same on android and ios

My apologies, acepoint.
I just copy pieces pgn-files from my android phone. Folder looks now same as in my phone, but not just work. My tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S) still try to download pieces file and nothing happens.. It works fine in my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3).

Yes, I sent report to feedback.
Themes and piece sets don't install on a Samsung Note tablet with Android 4.4.2 and chess.com software version 3.2.16. I can choose them, I get notifications about the download and install process, but nothing changes. Strange enough the changing of board colours (and sound sets) is fine. The tablet is not rooted. Deinstalling and reinstalling the app doesn't help.
If I log out I can switch between different piece sets, but this has no affect when logging in again.
On a mobile phone with Android 4.2.2 everything works like a charme.
