Problems with "suggest theme" in puzzles

Sort:
nhammen

So, I was looking at chess.com/puzzles/problem/547864, and saw that it had no suggested themes, so I went to suggest the appropriate theme. However, when playing through the puzzle, a lot more themes got suggested. So two questions:
1) Why does the right arrow key have duplicate functionality? After clicking "suggest theme", the right arrow key both advances the puzzle by one move, and automatically suggests the top (first alphabetical) choice for a suggested theme.
2) How do I un-suggest a theme? I have accidentally suggested every theme alphabetically from "4-move checkmate" to "double check", and I cannot un-suggest these themes. I would like to un-suggest everything other than "discovered attack".

I made the same observations and it is annoying that you can't undo accidental nonsense suggestions. Please fix this!

Thirding the request to un-suggest a theme. Just suggested Two Rooks Checkmate while looking for Trapped Queen, and can't undo it.

You already can down-vote theme suggestions.

I have the report option highlighted but above that you can see the up-vote/ down-vote icons on the themes.

Question and complaint about suggesting themes in puzzles...

1.  When I suggest a theme, sometimes it is in blue text and sometimes normal.  What's the difference?  Does blue text mean that somebody else has suggested that same theme -- or vice versa?

2.  A lot of puzzles have themes listed that I don't agree with.  Whether it's a mate in 2 when actually a piece could have blocked temporarily and made it a mate in 3 or an irrelevant theme to the puzzle (e.g., passed pawn where the puzzle has nothing whatsoever to do with a passed pawn that just happens to exist on the board).  So here's my complaint:  when I click "thumbs down" I get a check mark, which is the same indication as if I agreed with it.  Why not make it an "X" instead?

Here's a FOURTH request to be able to "un-suggest" themes I suggested - even if it's only until I move on from that particular puzzle. My worst one is trying to suggest "Vulnerable King" and mouse-slip-clicking "Under-promotion" instead. Talk about missing the point. There should be some undo mechanism. (Maybe right click or something.)

I also agree that down-voting an already listed theme should have a different reaction than up-voting it. I like badbigdog's idea of displaying an X.

An X implies that the theme will be removed and that isn't what is happening. If enough people downvote an option, it won't show as that theme anymore.

How does an "X" imply the the theme will be removed?  All it says is that you don't agree with the theme that's been tagged.  If you downvote a theme, it should be clear that you downvoted it rather than agreed with it.  Particularly if you re-visit the same tactic months later and you see your check mark on a theme you don't agree with -- there's no way to tell whether you agreed or disagreed with the theme.

I would like to know the answer to your #1 as well.

Some of them are blue because they are links to a lesson or insight.

As of today, I noticed there is no longer the ability to thumbs-up or thumbs-down a theme, nor the ability to suggest new themes, although many puzzles have hilariously incorrect themes or no theme at all.

That has been removed and the site is implementing a process to automatically fix and update the themes.
