Puzzle Rush Question

What do these numbers represent because they don't correspond to the actual puzzle ratings?

[Edit: Answer by AI]

The sequence of numbers you see in your Puzzle Rush Survival run (like 194, 240, 289, etc.) does not correspond directly to the rating or difficulty of each individual puzzle. Instead, these numbers represent the cumulative score or progression count at specific checkpoints or stages within the run.

Puzzle Rush Survival includes many puzzles in a long sequence, and the numbers you see indicate milestones showing how many puzzles you've successfully solved at various points, not the puzzle rating. This scoring display is designed to reflect your ongoing performance rather than puzzle-by-puzzle difficulty ratings.

The puzzle ratings themselves (usually shown elsewhere) represent how difficult individual puzzles are, but the continuous sequence in Survival mode tracks your endurance and total correct solves within the run, with increasing difficulty overall as you progress. The reason the numbers don’t match ratings is because they are counts or score checkpoints rather than conditional puzzle difficulty metrics.

In short:

The numbers mark your progression milestones or cumulative solved puzzles as the run continues.

They do not represent puzzle difficulty ratings.

Puzzle difficulty scales gradually but the scores reflect how far along you are in that endurance test.

The last three puzzles being incorrect ended your run, and your final score is the last number in the sequence.

That answer makes absolutely no sense. Could we get a human to answer?

I hope someone on chess.com can give a clearer answer. I suspect some kind of algorithm is generating these numbers which don't match the individual puzzle ratings and the only number kept as a record on your personal leaderboard is the number of correct solved puzzles. Also, why does the puzzle difficulty keep increasing despite failing the puzzles? Surely, the puzzle difficulty should only increase after correctly solving the puzzle.

Puzzle rush rating should be reasonably close to the actual rating difficulty. If it’s not then the puzzle rush rating has no meaning. See the example below.

Still not fixed, rating 156 in puzzle rush. How do you report to chess.com?

Should be Puzzle Rating (#50246) 1473
Pass Rate 58.7%
Attempts 1470

I've moved this topic to the Help & Support forum. Maybe it will now be seen by Chess.com moderators. Thanks for keeping it alive. None of the puzzle articles touch on this issue.
