"Computer Thinking ... " AARGH!

In just about every game I play vs. Computer (regardless of setting - Easy, Medium, etc.), there comes a point where the computer "stalls out" while "thinking" of it's next move ... now, I'm not the kind of play that can easily stump a computer, so I'm wondering why this is happening? I can't complete any games vs. computer ... and it's rather frustrating.

Do you play a lot of games where there are really locked pawn structures? Computers don't like those. Also, did you write the chess engine yourself?

What? Write the chess engine myself? What?

I'm talking about the "vs. Computer" option here at Chess.com ...

Anyone have any clue as to what the problem might be?

I thought they fixed this issue.  It was a problem when they first switched to the new computer.  If you ask support the first thing they'll probably say is to clear your cookies and history, close your browser, then try again.

My theory is the computer hangs itself when it is going to lose.  A little childish, but, after all, it is less than a year old.  Can't expect too much maturity yet.

You know, Fookatook ... it does seem to happen when I am close to victory, or at least about seize the advantage ... so I think you are probably right.
