"Long-running script"

It takes me a long time to actually start playing chess lately. The live chess screen loads okay, but when I try to click on "New Game", my pointer goes back and forth between an arrow and a finger - and no new game loads up. Then I see a note at the bottom of my screen that says, "chess.com has stopped responding due to a long-running script". When I click on the "Stop Script" option, Windows pops up a screen that says it is searching for a solution. Then it closes and reloads the live chess screen, only for me to go through the same thing over and over.

This last time, I got a note after the sixth reload that Explorer wouldn't even try anymore because the website "continues to have problems".

This happens whether I'm using my slow broadband, medium speed Century Link, or high speed Cox Cable.

What is this "long-running script", and what can I do to avoid it and just log on and play chess?

As a workaround, try chrome or firefox.
