If I play my family in rated games, and then see them in person and play only unrated at that point, and then when I don’t see them I played rated again, is that okay or will the accounts be punished?

I don’t mind if they just reset my rating, I mainly play for playing people I know, but another website locked mine and my dads when we shared just a chess puzzle, not even a game, which I’d like to avoid. For now we have switched to unrated but we have played 2 rated games (me and my brother in this instance).

Family members sharing the same IP address shouldn't play rated games on site against each other. https://support.chess.com/article/434-can-i-share-computers-with-another-member

Yes, I’ve seen that page, but my question remains happy.png

It is probably best to always play unrated to eliminate any question if sometimes the games are played from the same site.
