No, every new player gets a default rating(i believe 1200).

I you look at my "online" rating, it clearly states -unrated. For live chess I was given a rating however.
you do have an online rating of 1200, but it's currently "hidden"
for your rating to show you must win one rated online game.
Do I have to play a set number of online games to get a rating?
