My puzzle rating is 2031, but my last 3 puzzles have ratings of 655, 458 and 1045 respectively.

There's a new Difficulty setting you can change on the website. Change it to Hard or Extra Hard

Are the difficulty settings absolute or relative (with respect to my rating)? I did not change the settings but I was given a 1800+ puzzle today. It was labelled as "Extra Hard".

The Extra Hard pop-up from the Puzzle Points system has nothing really to do with the new difficulty setting. The new setting impacts the range of ratings you get; the rating of the puzzle compared to your current rating determines if it's considered hard or extra for puzzle points purposes.

help. my normal puzzle rating is around 1600 to 1900. All of a sudden, the puzzles are too easy and nothing higher than 800 and now my rating is now up to 2600. Do not like this as it is not accurate. Not correct , I do not get any hard puzzles anymore. I have asked twice for info from support and no response to this issue. Any suggestions or comments?

I got the exact same problem. For me it happened just when I completed all puzzle tiers (and found myself once again in the Wood tier). I used to get puzzels with ratings from 2000-3000 elo, but now they're suddenly 800-1800, making it very easy to farm elo. I've gained more than 300 elo in two days, but could have easily gained way more, but I hold myself back because it feels like cheating. I gain +5 for every puzzle. Sure, I lose -20 if I fail, but it's easy to gain that back without sweat. I tried explaining this to chess.com's AI support, but it didn't understand at all.

1. Am I receiving easy puzzles because I am in the Wood tier?

2. @Martin_Stahl you said that the new setting impacts the range of ratings I get, but is the range absolute (e.g. ~2000 elo for Extra Hard puzzles) or relative (e.g. when I reach 3000 elo in Puzzles, the Standard puzzles will be ~2000 elo and the Extra Hard puzzles will be ~3000 elo)?

Puzzle Points tiers have no impact on the puzzle selection algorithm.

It's a range around your rating, though the rating being used is part of the new system. There's work being done to fully move to the new system that should be more accurate. Until that's released, it's going to look off
