I would suggest you play some training games in which you keep score and play the same time control that will be used in the tournament. These things can be very distracting when you arent used to them....
Serious help!!!

1. I'll challenge you to some coaching games.
2. Try playing without analysis boards to train your brain.

But that wont help my OTB play. I never use that. When I play on here I only use my brain. I like to play fair.

It is fair to use the analysis board for correspondence chess.
You should just play games on Live Chess with similar time controls (as earlier mentioned) or play real people. I've gotten a lot better just by playing games with others...

Not on topic, but you are implying that the use of resources like the analysis board and books are not fair. Just pointing out that they are. (Even if this is your opinion...)

Seconding this excellent advice... Not making a botch-job of your score sheet is pretty important and not as easy as it might seem (for me, anyway )
I'm joining my very first OTB tournament and it dont start till April 4th so I just wanted to know if anyone could give me advice and training myself. I have no idea on how to train myself to get better OTB without playing someone. Oh and dont say read books because thats an obvious.
