Standard game with a missing bishop?

I just started playing a standard game but my f bishop was missing. And it wasn't like the site failed to load its image or something. It was literally not there.

For some reason my opponent resigned on move 2, and challenged me to a new game. I accepted, and now the colors were reversed... and his f bishop was likewise missing. Again, it was literally not there. For the entirety of the game, there was no bishop.

I don't understand what happened.

An odds game? 

How? Is it even possible to create an "odds game"? A standard odds game? And there's nothing in the game info indicating any such thing.

Yeah there is a way somewhere. I thought the odds were always in favour of the lower rated player though. Did they send you a challenge or did you just search a game? 

I looked at the open challenges and clicked on it there.
