Star trek multi tiered chess

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I can find the rules and board set-up to play a multi tiered game? Like the one you see Spock often playing on Star Trek. I'm not the trekky, so I'm not even sure if it is a real game? Thanks, please help.

I've seen it online before I believe.  I googled it once... if I remember there were even boards for sale on e-bay lol.
