OMG REAL. even though my rating is considered high (I think) I'm getting sick of all these complacent high rated people just thinking they are so good, like CUT. IT. OFF. you aren't as perfect as you think, even though some people's chess ain't that good, maybe at least they have higher EQ than you, which frankly, is more important than elo.

Finally, some support. Thank you!

LITERALLY ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I HATED CHESS.

They say that it takes so little effort to increase your rating yet they shame people for having a low rating making them not want to increase their rating

It's funny how you ignore everything thing I said and simply focus on something a random commenter said

I think I am considered high elo (1400 rapid) and I hope I don’t shame you guys about it. I am very proud of my rating so I might have involuntary bragged about it sometimes. Yea I think I may have.

Have I put myself above you in this way? If so, I'm sorry.

Rating is not useful for anything unless it's chess related. If there's a chess discussion, then the higher rated person is most likely the authority. In any other case or topic (IRL stuff, random threads on OTF) rating means nothing.

It really sucks how people can be so egotistical sometimes :(

Agreed. These forums talking about banning all people under a certain ELO from forums or trying to have 2000+ be chess.com mods is kinda...

immature. (pretty sure theres a big target on my back now!)

High ELO has no connection to how well someone would be a moderator. Low ELO has no connection to how good of a person someone is. Yeah, I get it. My ELO sucks and I'm pretty immature, but that doesn't mean EVERYONE with low ELO is. There are plenty of people with little ELO who are still great to talk with. Rating doesn't mean anything, it's sportsmanship and how well you play NOW in your current match. Not over x years in my opinion.

Legit I once played a 2300 and he literally called me "the worst 1900 on the platform"
and said that I "Didn't deserve my rating"

Anyways, my heart goes out to you if this is happening

There is one thing we can do to stop these people from affecting you: ignore them and choose not to let them get under your skin. You can't make everyone be nice, but you can choose who you interact with, how you interact, and you get to choose your reaction.

If ppl are being mean to you in game chat, get rid of the chat. Forums? Don't look at them. DMs? Block them. I have been called terrible insults after I flag someone, things that are auto-ban worthy. I don't complain, just ignore and don't let them get to me...

Stormy-Boy-2007
Take it from me, people with higher ELO are also way insecure about their level.

Guess you must like spam in your mailbox and garbage littered outside your house. Not common sense?

Spam is the same thing being repeated. Counting are numbers going up and not repeating. Also it's closed, so what's the issue?

Is common sense needed to tell that bullying people is not ok?

You must be bullied by teachers and parents or anyone else that corrects you. Common sense is required to be able to tell the difference
