Sudden Game Abandoneds

This evening I played three games in a row where it suddenly informed me I had lost after a few moves. One game went to 16 moves. In all three games I was doing well and was not being checkmated. I didn't resign. My internet connection was fine. I was just suddenly informed that I had abandoned the game and how many points had been deducted from my rating. Has this happened to anyone else? I hasten to add that this is an excellent site and this is the first problem I have had in many hours of enjoyment. Does anyone know what I should do? Should I leave it alone for a while or come back? Or should I report the problem to someone? Does anyone know why this has happened?

I'm very sorry that this happened. Could you please let me know what operating system, browser and browser version you are using?

What type of internet connection do you use?

I use iOS. The first two times it happened was on my iPad using the chess.com application. The third time was on my iMac. I use a wifi internet connection and was properly connected at the time. Thanks for your speedy response!

I have same kind of problem. Chess.com claims I abandon games and make opponents wait intentionally. My game against angelo111 today ended after move 10 where black castled. Then I received the information that I had abandoned the game. My internet cable is somewhat broken and disconnects once in a while, but I'm not disconnected for more than seconds and I've been using it for years, playing in chess.com.

I'm using windows 7, newest google chrome and I have a cable connection.

The same thing happened with me. My game got abandoned in the last 2 games. I'm using the Android app on Nexus 7 tablet.

hey that also happens in my last 3 games ,say that i had abandoned game, when in fact i did'nt.whats wrong in chess,com

I had the same problem. The server said I left the game when I was going to make the next move/ I use Windows 7, Chrome browser v 28.0.1500.95.

I don't want to complain because it's an excellent site and I am still a free member. I just want to know how to correct the problem because I love to play.

Same thing happened to me, twice.  I'm using Mac OS X and Safari browser version 6.0.4.  My internet connection is working fine today.

My last three games all abandoned after a few moves for no reason. It told me I left the game, although nothing changes on the site and I'm also still connected to the chat. My internet connection was excellent during all three games. It also happened to one of my opponents the game before.

Is this all happening just today?

Now I tried to play a game against markusanthony and after move 20.fxe3 HE suddenly abandoned the game and I won. He just said to chat "well that sucked" and left. What's happening here :D

I don't care so much about my rating. It was just that I was enjoying the games a lot.

Same has happened to me and to my opponents over last six games. Seems as if you leave the page for whatever reason- even to view your opponents  track record whilst playing -  the server ends the game

Same, match abandoned 4 games in a row. Seems to be assuming that a player abandons their game randomly - sometimes I had moved already and it was the opponent's turn and it STILL assumed I had abandoned the game.

(Both myself and my opponent have been flagged as having "abandoned" games when there was >20mins left on the timer)

Something drastically must be wrong. Same thing happened to me. Played  against a guy called drsban. He must be quite happy now!

Same here - OS Ubuntu - browser Chrome. 3 games abandoned - net loss to me 14 points. I love this site so I'm not complaining, but are Chess.com currently investigating?
