Suspicious lost of connexion while winning

Hi,

I just lost a game that I was winning to time, by a suspicious "lost of connexion" on my side (?)

I was playing against someone who played very very slowly each and every move. At some point I did a mistake and lost my queen, but as he was playing very slowly I thought I will win by time.

When timer went to 2min on his side (on a 30 min game), my connexion dropped. IT NEVER HAPPENED IN 3 YEARS WITH MY ROUTER. As soon as I saw that, I connected through my phone with a connection sharing. It took me less than 2min, but for my surprise when I connected back, I lost the game for abandonment, even if I had 16min left yet !!

What the heck ? I did not know you can lose that way, just let me connect back ???

deeply suspect DDOS or stuff like that but that seems suspicious as fk.

PS : It was not even my turn to play, game finished as he had to make a move, not me. This make no sens at all

Your opponent can't impact your connection. The clients never directly connect so your opponent can't get your connection details.

As to getting disconnected from the live server, there is an maximum allowed time to reconnect.

Hilarious that you’re blaming a loss on your opponent affecting your connection.

Thanks for the information, which clarifies a lot.

It still does not make any sense as when I made my last move and it was his turn, He had only 1.33 min to play. I was on -4 so the rule of disconnection in a "totally lost position". Does not even apply, according it applies on a -5 basis.

And 1.33min on a 30min game should be enough to win even If I do not reconnect. Is there a rule that says I lost If I am not here when the timer is out on his side ?

If it was your last game, white had mate in 8 so you exceeded the evaluation threshold for a faster abandonment.

recently my internet went down for an entire day, it might not be a problem with the router itself but actually the internet service provider.
