Teams?
Thank you Erik. It's the only thing I miss here.
@calvinhobbesliker,
OTB chess = over the board chess (chess with a real human being in front of you)
I can't wait for the first Chess.com Olympiad!
(i.e. a team tournament between all the nations represented at Chess.com)
@ Eric,
Could you give us an indication of how far the "near future" is in this case? Weeks, months, years?
I'm asking this because a group of friends is looking for a website to play as a team.
As far as I know yes, that is how it is going to be.
i'm sorry. other things have become a larger priority at this time. you can still form groups and private invite tournaments. what other team functionality do you want to see? :)

This sounds like you don't see why there should be teams anyway. (?)
The fun of teams is that there can be a team ladder competition! Then players can join a certain team and play against other teams to gain points and get a higher ranking in the ladder competition.
Teams don't need to be of the same size.
For example:
team A has 3 players
team B has 7 players
If team A wants to challenge team B and all 3 players of team A want to play, the captain of team A challenge team B for a match on three boards. If team B has 3 players available the match can be played.
A rating system can be used to give points to the winning team, depending on the individual rating of the players involved in the match.
Each team can be playing several matches at the same time.
Do you understand the idea?

Hi, I was wondering if there is a posibility of playing team matches. I mean not voting for a move but each team member playing his own game against a member of the other team. Like when in OTB chess one club plays against another club.
