How many times do you do it dear? You lose the game if you do it few times in a Blitz or rapid... It's high time Chess.com took notice and did something about it...
This app is poor. I gave up and removed it. No response to support requests other than reinstall The app. That does not resolve the issue!

i have 70-80 mbps wifi speed and i constantly get disconnected from games
i sit right next my wifi router also

Fix your trash app or I’ll go to lichess. Amazing that this thread is three years old and nothing has changed. I can’t play anything faster than 5 0 or I will guarantee flag. Even at 5 0 when I lose 7 seconds basically every move it’s like I’m playing handicapped. How frustrating.
I got a similar problem on my desktop computer (no app, and no wifi; direct cable connection and it works fine on all other sites).
I was playing and I got connection warnings that made it almost impossible for me to play.
I also tried switching to my secondary connection (which I have just in case the main one fails), but I got the same warnings (even though the secondary connection also works fine on all other sites)
I have a 100Mbps connection and never in all my years on chess.com have a lost so many games by disconnection (in the web app). I play very poorly and make stupid moves all the time and are quite capable of losing myself, so it doesn't really matter in the big scheme of things, it is just terrible service and frustrating. I remember in the old interface this never used to happen, and back then, I only had a shared (!) 10 Mbps. Perhaps I should not complain because I stopped paying my subscription, but then again thank goodness I stopped paying my subscription...
Enough chess.com 10 years i have been a paying member i have cancelled my subscription and wont be renewing it. My connection is 300mbits and still get disconnected......lichess is free and has never happened...... And unfortunetaly it happens almost everywhere in Europe, it happenned when i was living in Germany, it happens now that i am living in France and it happens when i am on holidays in Cyprus and it happens when you clear your history and cookies and all and why do i need to to do that all the time, fix your code!
I'm there, calculating my position and suddenly "... WON", "Game abandoned due to inactivity" or something like that. WHAT!?

OTHERWISE A GREAT APP, REALLY AMAZING. BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I'M PLAYING CHESS. I'M NOT F)( &*#@*%&&%#*( CLICKING THE FU$#*&#$&(*$ BOARD EVERY FEW SECONDS AND THAT DOESN"T MEAN I'M AFK.
This is still a great app, don't get me wrong.
I am a new user since a couple of days and I also get disconnected several times a day. My internet connection is very stable, and during all disconnects experienced so far, only chess.com was affected. Everything else worked fine, including Skype sessions with my opponents. Sad to hear that the bug is around for several years now. I will cancel my subscription and look for a different platform.

Before anything else, let me assure you that I have nothing but deep appreciation for chess.com. I understand that it might be a more complicated issue to resolve than what people might think. I also did make sure to calm a bit before posting because I was really just so, so frustrated with what transpired.
Before that even, I don't want any people to be angry or riled up or worked up about this. People should be a bit more calm and be fair about this because chess.com's great. It's a great platform. It's a really, really, really great platform, great resource, great place to learn and train. I think most people think very well of it. I played a lot there and it was really great. I do think very well of it.
It's merely to address an issue that can cause trouble to this platform over time.
Well, here's my description.
THIS HAPPENED YET AGAIN.
15|10 I calculated intensely and carefully, training session, intention to play many 15|10 in a row.
I was -2 but came back after opponent performed a tactic in the early game.
After such a losing opening, I had a great position, great development, opponent couldn't even castle, I was practically winning and it was great, real training and chess work.
SUDDENLY, BOOM "Game aborted". No record in the history of matches. Nothing. "Game aborted". That's all.
Like literally this. I was like "huh?" I had 1m 40sec left on the clock because of all the deep calculation to get out of trouble and suddenly, after turning it all around so much: "Game aborted.".

Another time, SAME WEEK - S A M E W E E K - I was playing 15|10, deep into a long calculation. Suddenly, "You have been disconnected". Due to afk, something like that, I don't remember. It happened more than once, especially if I was calculating something for long early in the game. It happened enough times that I started to be a bit nervous about not clicking the board every now and again because the server might think I went afk and throw "Game disconnected."
THIS IS MESSING UP THE TRAINING OF PEOPLE WHO TRAIN AND WORK SUPER SINCERELY AND HARD - CALCULATING VERY DEEPLY AND LOSING THEMSELVES IN THOUGHT.
BECAUSE YOU CAN NEVER BE CERTAIN IF IT'S NOT GOING TO BE ANOTHER SUDDEN, AND OUT OF NOWHERE, FOR 0 REASON, "You have been disconnected." or "Game aborted".
IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO TRAIN AND HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT "What if this is another disconnect or game aborted." YOU CAN'T DO DEEP THINKS AND REAL CALCULATIONS, REAL CHESS IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT "ok, must break my deep think for a moment to make a .........click - so the server doesn't think I went afk" or "ok, must break this deep training of calculation because the server might think that I went afk" or play a great game, real long, deep calculations, only to meet the "Game aborted." stuff.
SOLUTIONS THAT END UP PUNISHING PEOPLE WHO DO WHAT'S CHESS ABOUT, THAT'S COMPLETELY NOT WORKING.
I want to stress that this is really more a compliment to chess.com, more than anything else because I'd never bother to write even a sentence if I didn't think it was worth it. There are other places to play chess. Many.
I'd just tell all my friends "ye this platform sucks, bugs and random disconnects, don't play there". Instead, you guys created a great chess platform, it's amazing, great quality. It's really good. It's just that this kind of a bug is at the center of what the platform is about, people will probably start to leave if this kind of an issue persists, it's not something that can be ignored for too long.
If I'm inclined to care this much about some one platform not working as intended sometimes, then it's probably because this platform's really good quality, special, great.
Afterwards, I decided to not post it anywhere. Gave it yet another go. I like your app that much, it's that good.
Chess.com is really great, I thought maybe I'll tweak something, maybe even if it's once every 100 games, okay, fine for now. Still my favorite service. But now, another game, disconnect. Interesting position developed. Aaaaaand....blinking timers....disconnect.
It's absurd.
Also, the entire game this pop up "opponent bla bla has disconnected" pops up in the bottom right corner. The timers keep blinking for some time, then stop. And then, it finally starts blinking for good. Everything else works fine. You can even open other chess service and play with no problems. Ridiculous.
Don't tell people to fix their connection because it's not their connection, it doesn't happen in other places.
You do have a great app, really, really, really great app but at this point it's like a boat that's all amazing and awesome except it has a hole in the deck and is sinking. It doesn't matter how great everything else is if people literally can't play or have to worry about not getting disconnected every time they start to think for real.
Still thanks for the app. These are really great resources, solid training. If it becomes usable and trustworthy again, I, for one, will likely come back.
This problem persists for more then two years now. I keep been thrown off with met iPad (not my android phone) Chess.com you Will loose me as customer.
Around 10% of my matches just stop sending my moves and ends up saying i timeout/resign from my ios app. Its getting frustrating as im not playing for rank against opponents but rather against the system. My connection is just fine... something maybe with 3g/wifi jumps?
I'm truly amazed at how over three years since I've shared this complaint with the community, people are still actively discussing this issue. Thank you all for that.
As for the issue itself... yep! Chess com is still screwing me over during games. And since then I've upgraded my internet speed and my router, there's no excuse for them not to address the signal strength or the network recovery system during games.
This has happened to me multiple times over the last couple of weeks (Using the most updated app on ios with 100MB wifi) - is there a fix for this?
I went back from [another site -- VP] after reaching 2400 in blitz just to check if chess.com was getting any better. Note that I was a diamond sub for years. Well, Chess.com app is trash, and the number of cheater on this site is just unbelievable. I guess that settles it.
