The app keeps "disconnecting" while playing

This just started today. In the last 2 games I was disconnected (never happened before) and lost the game. As soon as the game was lost the connection came back as "Excellent connection very low lag". What gives, I'm afraid to try another game?

There used to be problems with online games in the early 2010s where opponents could get your IP and launch a DDOS attack to make you lag out when you were winning. It does feel like there's something of the sort going on here because I keep getting disconnected near the end of the game when I've got a 2 or 3 pawn advantage and over a minute on the clock. It's very irritating.

The two clients don't directly connect so your IP isn't exposed to your opponent.

All of these answers you are giving arent really helping! They are just complaints that you lost points. I lost a lot but we are after SOLUTIONS??? Here are some questions? Is it better to have a VPN on or off? If you disconnect, what is it best to do? Reconnect by refreshing the site and hoping the game continues or just waiting patiently? Are disconnects more common at day or night? Does anti virus or any programs increase the chances of disconnects? Can anyone answer these?

Aren’t you getting bored just sending the same two links for years on end? Most people here have said and continue saying that it’s an issue with the app and in my case i can change from wifi to my network carrier and back and even though both are from different networks neither goes through.

And i actually have another complaint, i never get disconnects in the middle of the game but solely in the beginning first two moves, so if it were a disconnection on my part why does it never happen in the middle of a game? And why do i get points subtracted for “leaving” the game when you can normally leave a game in the first two moves without losing Elo but for some reason the disconnects that are clearly the apps fault result in me losing rating

I stopped using chess.com years ago because of these disconnects and have only tried again because of the chess24 thing. Guess what - despite 500mbps internet which is happily running before during and after disconnect - IT IS STILL HAPPENING

Just to be clear - I am complaining about the server app running on the website which I am using.

It is obviously the app - are they using Fujitsu to deny the obvious conclusion and claim app is fine despite tons of evidence to the contrary? Perhaps they should rename the app HORIZON

I suspect the app is causing the powerline adapter to sleep - everything else is different, PC, ISP, property (I've moved house!) etc

A properly written app sends an "I'm still here" signal frequently when nothing is happening perhaps this is the problem?

It's still the same issue until now. It's 100% a server issue.

it is all about the internet connection. There is no issue with the app or platform

I have full bars of Wi-Fi and just got disconnected and was attempting to chat but couldn’t and my last move registered on my screen until I lost due to timeout. This is very frustrating as I had over 30 seconds left in bullet and lost because it never reconnected

And my position was at a 4.7 favoring me, as black

This happened again! I was in a +1.0 position as white and got disconnected. If the position is rated equal(<+/-1) or favoring the person who was disconnected it should be a draw that’s what I think.

I also got disconnected during a rapid game and I was winning and then lost due to game abandoned 😭😭😭😭😭

At the very least, it would be courteous if the system offered the person who's left connected the option to declare the game a draw.

I feel strongly that if the other player is disconnected through no fault of their own, they should not lose rating points (which matter a lot to some people). Therefore if my opponent disconnects in a position that I don't regard as a rock-solid win for me, I'm obliged to resign, even though I might have had quite a playable situation. Here's an example:

Chess: lmh50 vs sambajules - 107934792800 - Chess.com

This game was a bit of a mess from both of us, with me doing some very dubious things for no good reason, but at a situation where Review rates the game as +2.1 in my favour, certainly not a situation in which I particular want to resign - but with my opponent still with plenty of material and plenty of opportunities - he disappeared/disconnected. It would have been grossly unfair to claim I'd won the game, as if we'd played on, I would quite possibly have lost. But it's also unfair to claim that I lost it, as I hadn't. A draw would have been a fairer conclusion. Instead I had to sit there until the autoresign countdown hit a few seconds remaining, in case he came back, and then resign. Not great.

it's server side disconnections, likely being performed by administrators with personal agendas.

Same issue. I am canceling my recurring subscription if this doesn't get resolved soon. My internet is fine (hardwired) and ping time is fast and other sites load just fine. Come on folks, fix this problem please.

300mbps download and upload, Google Chrome, cleared cache, no other tabs opened, New Macbook Pro 2022

Still disconnect every 2nd bullet game
