I had some problems intially with the new board too, but it seems to be ok for me now. Please report any problems you have with using it (if you haven't already), so any remaining wrinkles can be ironed out.
The Chess Board Blues
My biggest annoyance is one that was there on the old style board and that is still an issue with the new one:
When inserting a game, diagram or puzzle I'm unable to go back and edit the original position. Once you've set the original position you need to delete and re-insert the diagram if you need to make a change to it.
First, let me say that the interactive chessboard for placing games in blogs, forums, articles, etc. is my favorite feature at chess.com and I appreciate it fully.
I did like the older version better and while it sometimes had quirks, the newer version is far, far, far more unstable.
When I write a blog, I usually do it in stages, saving my work as I go. If I post a game and save it, the game works. But if I then edit the posting, the game doesn't work and has to be actually deleted and re-insterted (if I try to edit it, it just disappears altogether). Then it works - until the next edit. Additionally, if I insert several games, (usually) one of them won't work (by "not work," I mean a placemarker, rather than a gameboard displays when the entry is viewed), then when I re-install that game, the other ones won't work. It often takes several hours just to get three games to work simultaneously - but .... then see a spelling mistake I need to correct. O Dear!
It's very frustrating, believe me - but by the same token, I do love the interactive gameboard.
The old version did the same thing but to an far less degree.
This may be a bug than could be addressed when time and inclination allows.
