timeout with time still on clock
I have lost several 3/2 games this month on time, with TIME STILL SHOWING on my clock. Chess.com needs to fix this glitch because it's beyond irritating.

I have also lost games on timeout when there was time on the clock. What is the reason?

The server keeps the official clocks and while it could look like you still have time, the time on your clock is out on the server.
Well that is truly bizarre. If there were a couple of seconds left on my clock, then OK, but it has happened when there are minutes left on my game clock.

Do you have a specific example?
Sorry, I don't at the moment (I checked my previous games but the result doesn't show by timeout). I'll keep and eye out and if it happens again, I'll screenshot.
here is a game I just played. Note the clock I see is over 2 minutes to go in the game. I am black.
Your opponent had over 2 minutes. You had 16.9 seconds after your opponent's last move.

Ah, so a lightbulb moment. I was assuming the clock up the top was the time remaining in the game. I thought the game time was 10 mins, but it is 10 mins each and each player has a clock. Correct? Thanks for your prompt responses.
This has been happening to me a lot. I've been playing 3-2 games. I just had about seconds left, and I moved quickly, and it timed out with I had at least 2 seconds left. It is really annoying.
If I "timed out" on the server but not on my screen, that's a problem. Because we make decisions when playing chess based on the time we see on our screens. If there is a difference between the server time and the time on the screen, the screen time needs to take precedence so players aren't making decisions based on bad data.
I was playing a 60 minute Rapid game today. My opponent hadn't moved for about 8 minutes. I went out of the room for 2 to 3 minutes and came back and I had been timed out. I had 50 minutes on the clock and my opponent had 48 minutes.
This is the second time this has happened. Please answer this chess.com

You lost by abandonment because of a long period of inactivity although I'm not sure why your abandoment timer was so fast in such a long game
