Too Many Random Friend Requests?

Just recently, I have experienced a torrent of random friend requests. Many of them from members who just joined only days ago.

Does that mean Chess.com has been infiltrated by a scourge of bots? Could it mean that my account has been infected with malware? Or, somehow, I have become super popular for an unknown reason?

What can be done to remedy this situation?

If you visit my profile you will see that I am a longtime user, but have not had this experience to date.

You could always turn off requests in settings. I haven't seen any more than normal.

Regarding friend requests, I've advertised for club members, and started getting new friend requests, but they pop up inappropriately like game move notifications, and I need to dismiss them. Does that cancel the friend request? Because I don't know where to find them otherwise. If it does cancel the request, it's a pretty silly system.

If you dismiss the alert and don't deny them, the should remain in the Pending state and van be found via the Social > Friends page.

Is that what 'Recommended friends' is?!? - otherwise I don't see any requests on that page.
