Tournament not starting

Hi, this tournament was supposed to autostart at midnight my time; it didn't, so I pressed "Start tournament" when I noticed this morning, and it's now been stuck in "Starting soon" for some hours:

👆 Is there some way that staff can give this a prod to make it start? Many thanks.

For comparison/contrast, the ≤1200 tournament with otherwise identical settings also did not autostart when it was supposed to, but did start correctly after I pressed "Start tournament".

Thank you for keeping us informed.

It seems there are problems in the ≤1200 tournament too; as a player has commented:

This is my first Daily Chess tournament so pardon me T_T. So the 1200 and under tournament started a few hours ago. I and many people seems to be missing one or two games. For example, I am in a group of 5 but only have 7 games. Also when I look at the pairings, I can not see group 2 at all. Are these bugs/glitches or is it a problem on my end ?

There were some site issues around 14 hours ago, so if the event was scheduled to start then, that could be why there were problems..

Randy_NH

yeah, for about 2 hours I could not play, late last night, not even puzzles

To be clear, the problems are still in place; the tournament is still "Starting soon!" without actually starting, and the second-linked tournament still has the bugs described.

So, can this be fixed somehow?

Martin_Stahl

This is being looked into.

FriskTemmie

it started!

AnastasiaStyles

My thanks to whoever fixed the main tournament!

With regard to the ≤1200 tournament, any word on the currently missing games?

As you can see, while most pairings have their two games currently in progress (as per the tournament settings), some only have one game (with the other greyed out), which will throw out the rankings if they don't start:

Why am I not listed in the pairings?

I would presume it is another bug, unless you were not registered in the first place?

Did you see your name in the players list(s) before the tournament(s) began?

Edit to add: while I obviously didn't memorize the player roster, I see that the tournaments currently have 67 players in the main tournament and 22 in the ≤1200 tournament, which is also what the numbers were showing as before each tournament began. So it doesn't look like we lost any players between then and now.

Randy_NH

I assume it was, or I would not have been sent the messages about the tournament.

Did you get a "Tournament has started" message? Because that's the only one that's sent by the system. If you got that, then the system clearly recognized you as a registered player.

The "starts soon" announcement, on the other hand, was made manually by me and went to all LGBT Club members who have notifications on for announcements.

Randy_NH

I probably was not then. Will try for the next one.

Thank you for clarifying. I figured the announcement you sent was to all registered players, and not the group. My bad.

Hi. This is a common mistake, unfortunately. When our tournaments start, I always check the legitimacy of all pairs in the group right away. And pressing the F5 key a few times refreshes the list to make sure all pairs are playable...
