Tracking my games/rating

When I look at my games in archive mode, the outcomes and ELO scores don't seem to match - so I suspect I'm missing something about sorting them, perhaps?  I'm trying to correlate my ELO history with game results - what's the best way to get the detailed data to support this?

Thanks, Al

If you're looking at the profile view of your archive, then all types of chess games are included in that list. If you click where it says "Show more..." you'll be taken to this page > http://www.chess.com/home/game_archive?member=tiggyboo

From there you can choose which type of chess you'd like to view :)

Thanks, I'd gotten that far but still don't understand what's missing in the cronology. For instantc if you look at "turn based games" and my very first game, my ELO is 1054, then after losing that game it becomes 1390 for the next game. Are there gaps in the archive? What else might explain that?

That may actually just be due to the fact that your ELO tends to swing up and down a lot in the beginning. This is a result of the way it's calculated. Only after a number of games played does it begin to "settle down".

Hi tiggyboo, The rating shown in the game archive is your rating at the conclusion of that game after it is adjusted for the result. So when it shows 1054 for your first game, that means your rating was 1054 after losing that game. The 1390 shown for the second game is what your rating increased to after winning your second game. The next game was another win, so it shows 1456 next to game three.

Your most recent turn-based game (12/22) shows your rating to be 1367, which is what it increased to after winning the game, and is also your current rating.

I hope that answers your question!

Thanks guys... yeah it's the ELO swing in the beginning that had me confused. I was up to 1534 after relatively few games and beating primarily those with lower ELOS. Yet recently with lengthier winning streaks against those with higher ELOs my rating seems to advance minimally. However, after all is said and done, I think my current rating is pretty accurate, so maybe the system is working :-) Thanks for all the feedback!
