Hello everyone!
I just want to ask, if there is a possibility to make the chess.com app on Android speak the current move out loud.
The standard TalkBack doesn't work quite well for me and is a complete overkill.
For me, it''s hard (or impossible most of the time) to see, which piece my opponent moved, so I always check the textual representation aside of the board, when I hear a move-sound.
It would be great, if the app just could say "Bishop to F4" or even a short version like "Qxc3#" would be nice.
I think, this would help many blind or low vision people, and it shouldn't be a big deal, since the AI-Tutors already talk using TTS or so.
So my question is: Is there already such a functionality hidden inside the app-settings, or is it planned to add such a feature in the near future?
The app is great for people with good eyes, and I assume it supports Screenreaders like TalkBack perfectly, but a Screenreader usually is a terrible overkill for people with rest-vision who just need "a little help".
So, there are only the two extremes, 0% and 100%, black and white, but a simple option to read out loud just the current position, would help a lot of people with low vision, which are not yet fully blind, i think.
What do you say?
Thanks for reading, and have a nice day! :)
Right on . I like to watch other games and shrink the tab down and open another tab to do something else. If the speech was there, you can keep up with the game and practice blindfold
