Unable to play friend because “max rating too lowâ€

The only reason I have this app is to play a good friend who moved away... over time my rating has increased because I play more... but now when I attempt to challenge him, the app doesn’t allow it. Our ratings shouldn’t matter if we’re friends.

There is a setting that says something like "Ignore ratings if a challenge comes from a friend".

I guess it is only for daily challenges.
I’m not able to find any place in settings where it gives me the option of ignoring ratings... anyone else have ideas

Try logging in to the site using a browser and go to Settings -> Daily Chess. You should see the "My friends can challenge me no matter what" switch.
