Very distracting profile pictures

Disclaimer:    This is the first time I've had this problem and I enjoy seeing peoples pfps

Okay, I was playing a rapid game today when my foe had a rather unsettling picture of themselves as their pfp. It was clearly like them being a little silly but it was purposefully unsettling and very distracting. I looked for a quick way to maybe disable their pfp during game, trying theater and focus mode but that made his horrific face larger.

Did I miss something, is there a way to disable pfps on the fly?

If not is there a way to permanently disable pfps? Imo the pic was bm and I just don't wanna have to deal.

It wouldn't be @MyNameIsShadrach, would it?

Yup, his bio literally says don't look at me xd

I agree it is not a great pfp

BUT

Not everyone is as tasteful as you and me in pfp choice XD

And there's no setting to turn it off...

Well I'm an endangered species since chess.com disabled adding webps as pfps earlier this year because it was..."distracting"

I blame those people with those gaudy chess edits as their pfps

Oh no! You can't change it then?

I used my cursor to make my opponents forget about chess:

@justbefair @martin_stahl Was playing rapid and matched with this guy. I already reported it twice from his page. Nothing was done about it. Look closely, that's not Spongebob.

Yes, but it is not a setting within chess.com . You can find information online about using extensions like adblockers.

If you play via a browser, it is possible to write a client script to remove profile pictures

If you play via the apps, only a piece of black tape on the screen comes to my mind

I think that gif profile pictures are annoying, although Im not making a thread about them as I mostly play on the app
