Vs Chess stays on loading screen. no pieces displayed

When trying to play vs computer, the board appears with "Loading..." displayed and no pieces and it just stays this way. windows xp. using Firefox. no firewall issues. Javascript enabled. am I missing something? it's been 15 minutes. tried refreshing, tried reloading. just get's to loading and stays there. Any suggestions?
