What is wrong with the formatting on Chess.com?

That is exactly what I do, but when I find I am playing against a cheater, I check if I am right. It takes me no more than 5 minutes, and it is worth the satisfaction to see I was right and to see them banned :)

Eh, it's not really something you would do regularly. I've played quite a bit of games and only once have I actually used this method. Usually, it's worth at least considering it when there are other factors suggesting that the player may be cheating. In my case this person had had an enormous rating boost, and a consistent winning streak in a very short span of time, and to boot they were blitzing out their moves. I figured I'd just take a quick look, and not long afterwards he was hit by the banhammer.

Basically, it's definitely not something you'd do regularly, but it's a nice option to have available for when the moments arise.

A false positive is when you test for something, and the result is positive when, in fact, it is not positive.

The method you originally described, and I know you have since elaborated on it, would have a lot of false positives. Meaining that your 'test' says they are cheating, when, in fact, they aren't.

But the point of this thread was other. The dissapearence of some stuff that we were able to see before and how this affects us.

Going back to the main topic, does anyone have any idea if the staff members check by these forums on their own, or not? I wonder if we should try sending a customer support ticket, or if it will just be redundant seeing as we're already talking about it here. Also, if we were to, it would probably be a bit unecessary to have more than one person sending a ticket, so they don't get overloaded with essentially the same message. Then again, I guess it would show the issue is quite wide-spread, which may get them to hurry up and look at it...

Haha, I really don't know! What do the rest of you think is the best course of action here, regarding that?

That doesnt happen. At least not very often to me. When I report someone, that someone is banned within hours or days.

FireAndLightz

I think we all have to sending ticket

They dont check very often. If you want an answer from a staff member, you better send them a message. And what is that about not many members sending tickets to not overwhelm them? It was their fault they put this like it is now, so they have to deal with all the people who want to complain. I wont be sending any, I rather see how they are taking down the site which could be, with little effort, much better than before...

There at least 4 thread about the issue. And I imagine there will be several more. But, it appears Mic15 has sent a ticket on it. So, if they didn't know before, they will now.

bestpony

That was mostly what I was hoping for, actually! As long as one person does it, I think that should be fine for now. I think the best we can do now is just wait and see if anything changes.

FireAndLightz

I had this problem yesterday too and i sent a ticket. they probably answer within 11 hours

We do read the forums. I'm not seeing this on my page -- but I only have two sidebar alerts from groups. Those of you with a lot of alerts, does it change if you remove or ignore your alerts?

I've seen several places so far where premium members were not having this problem.

As for me, with or without alerts, it all looks fine.  I'm not sure how alerts would cause the 2 missing tabs though.

bestpony

Ahh, that's reassuring to hear!

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, though, Calamondin. I had around 10 alerts when I got on a few hours ago, and had the centralisation issue. I later cleared out everything, but still whenever a new alert popped it, they'd be centralised. And I also just went into the settings and disabled the alerts, but I still can't see the games/about me pages. It's exactly like before.

bestpony

Also, I don't really think the centralisation issue is exclusive to the alerts. I see the same formatting in the "recent posts" section for the forums.

Amelia

Sorry about that! -- we do read the forum but sometimes we are human and miss a few key points. @bestpony -- I checked your account and I can see the missing tabs--I see what you see. I'm wondering if this is related to your theme. Will you see if changing your theme to a standard one changes your view, please?

bestpony

I'd almost like to believe that the cause of the empty games/about me tabs has to do with some recent formatting change here, that also is the reason for the centralisation of notifications etc. That is to say, that the centralisation is deliberate, but that the impact it has on the games/about me tabs is a bug of some sort. But that wouldn't explain at all why only free players are having those issues.

Calamondin, if you're unable to see the problems we're talking about, could you perhaps try viewing a user page while being logged off, since you won't be connected to the members' benefits when you do? That way you should see what we're talking about!

bestpony

Okay, sure! Just give me a moment! Then again, I've seen the same problem when looking at others peoples' accounts. Anyway, I'll see if that changes anything!

bestpony

Ok, I have the standard theme now. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like that helped:

Amelia

I definitely see there is an issue, I will forward this to the developers to fix! :)
