They have either blocked you, have their messages set to friends only (if you're not a friend), or have it set to Nobody

You see this box also when you have reached the daily limit of messages, this restriction is removed automatically next day

As far as I'm aware, there are no limits on daily messages. There may be some on consecutive messages, which can be seen as spamming.

I used to see that blue label "You are currently unable to message with this account" quite often as a free member. I figured out that it appeared if I tried to message more than 5 people per day, even if they messaged me first that day, even if we had already sent dozens of messages each other before. Then I had to wait until next day to be able to message again

I know the main reasons for those banners are
- Member blocked you
- Member privacy setting is set to Friends only or Nobody and you're not a friend
- Sending member has privacy setting to Nobody or Friends only and the recipient isn't a friend
I tested otherwise and there was no limit to messages that I encountered
Well, when I am a free member I keep getting that banner anyway after I send a message to the 6th person for the day, however I can still write to moderators and staff

If blocked, there is a large red banner across the top which says 'you've been blocked'
Not that I know from first hand experience, mind you ...

You can also get this message "You are currently unable to message with this account" if YOU have been muted. Not that I know from personal experience.

Sometimes this happens if the other person has blocked you or turned off messages from everyone who isn’t on their friends list. I’ve had that on a couple of chess contacts too. In my case, I just sent a quick note through another channel to check. I usually keep things tidy the way I do in whatsapp api, where message settings are super clear, so it’s easy to notice if someone has limited who can reach them.
for some reason it says for two of the people I messaged I can't message their accounts anymore
