Why I got minus 54 for each game of loosing?

I haven't played on this account for about 1 year, and when I got back, each game is -54/+50? Why can't the system let me drop normally if I play badly or worse? In the past, I worked for months to reach 1500 (because each win only gave me 8 points, and I am not a genius with a 100% win rate). Also, I'm still skeptical about why the system doesn't let my ELOs decay normally as I will win or lose a lot (streak lost or streak win), but speed up the process?
