Why isnt my diamond membership canceled?

The last diamond membership i got was for 2 months after getting 2nd in a community bullet brawl. Going to membership settings i found that it was supposed to expire on jan 9th. Why is it continuing and is chess.com using my card to keep it going? 

I was considering canceling it, but i would like to get as many free days as i can since i havent personally have paid for membership in 5 years and i dont want to pay for it again.

I just contacted support, but i'd rather just get a answer here. I hope chess.com cancels people's memberships when they expire so i don't have to go through this. so annoying >:\

No one in the forums can really help. You're not being scammed, however, if you had a membership before the diamond was added, it would revert to the old membership after the gifted one completed. If that membership was expired, it would try to renew, if not cancelled.

Then why is there no new expiration date? it still says expires Jan 9.

There is some type of grace period, if it's unable to charge. I don't know how long that is or how often it tries until it succeeds or finally cancels the membership
