Why isn't the emotes on board feature working?

Highlighting squares and placing arrows work, but I can't place emotes on the board. I tried both on Microsoft Edge and Chrome, and I am using a laptop. I have enabled the "right-click to place arrows and highlight squares" feature. I am using the beta version of chess.com.

It doesn't work on some devices like chromebook.

But I am on a Lenovo... (does the fact that it is at least 6 years old have to do anything with it?)

I believe the board emoji feature was disabled.
